Cinnamon Raisin Swirl Bread

Difficulty Level: 3/5

This bread is the perfect way to rise to any occasion (ha!). I love this recipe because it looks fancy, isn’t too sweet, and makes for a beautiful gift for a friend. This recipe creates an impressive bake that even Mary Berry would approve. If you don’t like raisins, the bread still tastes great without them. Sometimes I’ll throw in cranberries instead or just make it a plain cinnamon bread.

INGREDIENTS

6 cups of flour

1 tablespoon of instant yeast

2/3 cup of raisins

2 tablespoons of cinnamon

1 teaspoon of salt

3/4 cup of sugar

1 cup of milk

1/3 cup of water

6 tablespoons of softened butter

2 eggs

DIRECTIONS

Mix flour, salt, raisins, and sugar in one bowl.

Warm milk in microwave or stovetop, then add yeast. Let mixture sit for 5 minutes, before adding to your dry mixture. Add in butter, water, and eggs.

Use your hands to knead mixture, then form into ball. Place dough in a large bowl and cover (can use cling wrap or tea towel) for one hour.

Flour your table/ work space and put dough on top, which should have risen to about twice its size. Roll out the dough. (tip: if you don’t have a rolling pin, use a wine bottle!)

Sprinkle cinnamon across the surface of dough. And start to roll the dough, as shown in the photo above.

Put roll in rectangular tin. Bake for 35 mins, with heat at 175 degrees.

Enjoy!
